Students are provided with opportunities to explore student leadership within ASOSU, work on various projects and campaigns, and expand their knowledge through civic engagement. This class is designed to support development of skills and knowledge around topics such as: activism, community organizing, direct-action organizing, government leadership, project design & project management, institutional equity & diversity, civic engagement, etc.

Students who have completed at least one term of Organizing for Social Change - I can continue their work with ASOSU by participating in specific projects and campaigns. Students may propose new projects/campaigns, or participate in existing projects/campaigns already underway. This course is available during fall, winter and spring terms. This course emphasizes development of conceptual and practical experience developing campaigns on behalf of constituents, organizational leadership, public relations, outreach, and related subjects. Offered Fall, Winter and Spring terms, this course will give students direct experience with the ASOSU Senate, the legislative branch of student government at OSU. Students do not have to hold elected senate positions in order to participate. This class is designed to support development of skills and knowledge around topics such as: parliamentary procedure, writing legislation, proposing legislation, communicating with constituents, maintaining records, etc.

Offered fall, winter and spring terms, the ASOSU Committees course supports students who are willing to represent their peers by serving on university committees. Students who apply for committee appointments through ASOSU, and who are granted appointments to one of many university committees will complete course requirements that emphasize the following: parliamentary procedure, representing constituents, record-keeping, advocacy in public policy, etc.

Students who would like to participate in the ASOSU internship program may also work with their major or minor departments to identify academic credit through those programs. ASOSU staff members (students or faculty, depending on the needs of each program) act as site supervisors in support of interns, while a faculty member in a major/minor department assigns final grades. Most students will be encouraged to complete Organizing for Social Change - I as a site-supervised or ALS 410 internship prior to pursuing advanced work on projects/campaigns. Some exceptions may be made.
