Measure Passes by two-thirds (2/3) majority vote of the voting members (As specified in Article X, Section A.1 of the ASOSU Constitution).
The key changes are highlighted below:
Legislative Branch: Unicameral Legislature becomes a Bicameral Legislature comprised of a House or representatives and a Senate Senate positions are 2 years and any student (Graduate or Undergraduate) can run for them House positions are 1 year, body is made up of 20 undergraduates and 5 graduates to roughly reflect population The process for impeachment is much more detailed than in the current version.
Executive Branch: Removed specific positions the Executive Branch is required to hire, making it easier to add/delete positions based on student needs. Positions will be relocated to ASOSU Statutes which do not require an all student vote to change. Created a timeline for signature of legislation.
Judicial Branch: Changed name of Judicial Board to Judicial Council Changed appointment process to be similar to U.S. system. President appoints, Senate Confirms. Added two more members (five members to seven).
Elections: Changes to the elections packet now require notification to the candidates for office rather than every candidates approval for changes to go into effect. Amendments to the Constitution require 15 percent of the student body to vote Defined Legislative Initiative and Referenda and Financial Initiative and Referenda.
Removed the Student / Incidental Fees Committee and Student Parking Appeals Committee from the Constitution. Their roles will be defined via statutes. Text presented by the ASOSU Senate Chair.
