How it Works

  • We use this information to determine which STI test is best for you and to ensure we ship your test to the correct address.
  • There are some optional questions about OSU sexual health programming. We use your answers to improve these services.
  • All of your answers are confidential and stored on secure servers. None of your identifying information will be shared outside of Student Health Services.

  • Your kit will arrive in discreet packaging, with nothing on the label to show what's inside.

  • Follow the instructions to register your kit online and set up your portal account online. That way, the lab knows the kit belongs to you and can securely upload your results for you to view when they’re ready.

  • The box contains instructions on how to collect your sample(s). Depending on your unique needs, this may be urine, blood, and/or a swab.

  • Place all of your samples back in the box and use the prepaid shipping label to mail everything to the lab.
  • Since shipping is prepaid, you can just place the package back in your mailbox or at the mail drop in your assigned on-campus service center.

  • In less than a week, your results will be available in your online portal.

  • Your kit includes a free telehealth appointment. You’ll connect with a clinician who can tell you what treatment you need and will help you figure out where to go.

What happens if I test positive?

In the case that you receive a positive test, you’ll be able to schedule a free telehealth appointment. During your appointment, a clinician will talk through your results with you, explain your treatment options, and connect you with any additional resources you may need.

In some cases, you may simply need to pick up a prescription that will be written by your telehealth clinician. Other treatments may require you to go to a clinic. In the case that you need in person treatment, Student Health Services is here for you! Your telehealth clinician can also help connect you with other local options in your area.

If you test positive, it's important that any of your current/recent partners know that they may need to get tested. TellYourPartner.org is a site designed to allow you to anonymously notify a partner that they may have been exposed to an STD. Click HERE to learn more.

FAQs

DamTested is a new program for students to order an at-home STI test kit and test for common STIs in the comfort and privacy of their own homes.

Yes, at-home STI tests can be quite reliable when used correctly. It is important to carefully follow the instructions and properly collect your sample(s) for testing. These tests can even be as accurate as the STI tests at the doctor’s office because the test is still run in a laboratory.

The DamTested kit will test for chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).

Any OSU-Corvallis student can! Please note that you can only place one request per term.

No, you do not need to be experiencing any signs or symptoms of an STI to order or use the test. Many people who test positive for an STI may never experience any signs or symptoms of the infection–you need to test to find out your STI status

You can place a request using our order form, which you can find here.

There are three parts to the DamTested kit. Once you have your kit, you will need to fill out a registration card and activate your test online. After activation, follow the instructions included in the DamTested kit to collect your urine (and potentially saliva and/or fecal) sample(s). Once your sample(s) has/have been collected and packaged, you will ship the sample(s) to the lab for testing. Shipping materials are included in the DamTested kit for your convenience.

Your STI test results will generally be available in less than one week after you’ve shipped back your test.

You can find your test results in your TBD Health secure portal.

It depends. Folks who are sexually-active should get tested for STIs at least once a year. If you have multiple sex partners or a new sex partner, you should test more frequently. Ideally, it is best to test for STIs before engaging in sexual activity with a new partner.

The DamTested kits will ship in discreet packaging–you will not know that the package contains the DamTested kit from the outside.

If you test positive, Student Health Services and/or TBD Health can help you. At Student Health Services, With TBD Health, you’ll schedule a telemedicine consult and their clinicians will walk you through your results, next steps, and prescribe medication for you and your partner(s) if appropriate. Note that for some STIs, TBD Health is required by law to report a positive result to the applicable Department of Health.
