Biography

Hi, my name is Julianna Alatorre, but you can call me Juls. I am a third year at Oregon State University currently working towards my Bachelors of science in Organizational Leadership. During my time at OSU, I've been an active member of the Kappa Delta Sorority, where I’ve held many leadership roles, including Director of Member education on the executive council. I currently serve on the DEI, budgeting, and Mock Rock committees, which has given me a lot of experience in community building and inclusion. I also work on campus at The McNary Complex, where I've been employed since my freshman year. My time here has helped me grow as a communicator, teamworker, and mentor, while also allowing me to build a supportive community. When I’m not in Corvallis, you'll likely fi nd me back home in Murrieta, California, hanging out with my friends and family, crafting, or working as a Customer service associate for Walgreens. I am excited to broaden my experiences in Leadership, deepen my engagement with the OSU community, and hopefully serve as part of your ASOSU senate.

Platform Statement

My platform is formed around the idea that all students at OSU should feel supported, represented, and empowered. Therefore as a candidate for ASOSU Senate I am committed to ensuring student safety, building inclusive communities, and expanding access to student resources.
1. Student safety
Student safety is my number one priority because every student deserves to feel secure and supported while on campus. I will advocate for clearer communication on safety resources, and improve the visibility of programs that assist with mental health and support for emergencies.
2. Building inclusive communities
I also believe building inclusive communities is extremely helpful in making students feel supported and empowered on campus. Therefore, I will support initiatives that expand culture and community centered programming, as well as creating more accessible spaces where students can collaborate, find support, and feel comfortable to be themselves at OSU.
3. Expanding access to student resources
Another one of my beliefs is that all students should have the information and access to all resources offered to them. I will advocate for clearer pathways to academic support, mental health services, and basic needs programs. My goal is to minimize confusion, ensure awareness, and ultimately make sure that any student can find the support they need to succeed.
