Safety means looking out for our riders, staff, and community
SafeRide is a community where everyone belongs. Our staff will always treat you with respect and look out for your safety. We do this by holding our staff and riders to high standards, which start before you even request a ride.
Our Safety Standards
Sharing the Ride
Riders should always treat each other with respect, and SafeRide does not tolerate discrimination. Anyone who violates our policies may be asked to leave the vehicle. Continual violation of our policies may result in a ban from service.
Driver History and Background Checks
All drivers must pass a criminal history, conduct, and motor vehicle history checks before they are even employed with SafeRide. Staff must maintain good standing with OSU while employed.
Mandatory driver education
All new drivers complete a comprehensive training regiment under the supervision of the SafeRide Coordinator and seasoned SafeRide staff providing direct feedback. This training includes hands on practice in the vehicles and handling emergency scenarios.
Community Guidelines
How to share the ride
When you ride with SafeRide, you are part of a community where everyone strives to treat each other with respect and kindness. Because we’re all part of Beaver Nation.
Compassion
The students who drive SafeRide vehicles treat each other and the riders with care, dignity, and respect and that’s how we keep our community welcoming for everyone.
Everyone needs a little kindness each day so choose basic human decency and be kind.
Respect personal boundaries of both riders and staff. Keep your hands to yourself.
Respect personal differences and keep your judgments to yourself.
Treat the SafeRide vehicles and staff with respect.
Leave rowdy behavior, and romantic gestures out of the car.
Safety
We want every ride to be safe for everyone, including the staff and it’s on all of us to make it happen. You can help by holding yourself and your guests accountable.
Keep alcohol, vapes, cigarettes, weapons, and illegal substances out of the vehicles.
Service animals are welcome in SafeRide because they are eyes, ears, wheelchair handlers, mobility, and life support. Not just our furry friends.
Feedback
Speak up with feedback and honest ratings. Whether you are shouting out a SafeRide staff for a great ride, expressing a concern, or bringing attention to an issue that impacts our communities, your feedback helps make SafeRide better and our community safer.
Please provide details with your feedback if something goes wrong so we follow up with our staff to make sure we get it right the next time and prevent it from happening to someone else.
Rider Expectations
Masks are optional
We know that everyone has different comfort levels when it comes to health safety. So you can keep wearing a mask, if you'd like to, when you ride.
Respect
We expect everyone to follow our Community Guidelines and Policies. That includes treating each other with respect.
What if these standards and guidelines aren't for me?
As a community that is inclusive to all, we understand if our guidelines and policies do not align with everyone. Although, violations to them will not be tolerated. Anyone who continuously violates them may be banned from using the SafeRide service.
